BATTLE SYSTEM [/b] This site makes use of a battle system for all Dark Hours and Tartarus explorations. In order to keep things as simple as possible, while still keeping the spirit of an RPG intact, there have been a few changes made.
List of Permitted Spells
In order to keep things moving smoothly, we have put together a list of permitted spells that can be used. Status inflicting, buffing, and one-hit K.O. moves are not available to keep the system in it's simplest form.
There are two options available to you for playing out battles. One is a regular turn-by-turn battle and the other a Rush Mode. Each has their benefits and downfalls, which will be listed under their respective sections. [/blockquote]

REGULAR BATTLE HOW IT WORKS
1.) A moderator or admin in charge of your session will create a thread for you. The first post will contain a mob of monsters that the party must defeat. Our mobs are randomly generated, including the amount of shadows, type, and how many mobs per floor.
2.) After the post has been made, the characters may start attacking. You are allowed one attack per post and must state the target you are attacking within it. As stated above, posts are to be a minimum of 50 words and maximum of 300 for battling in Tartarus, to avoid them taking too long.
3.) EQUATIONS: These are the problems used to determine how much damage your character will do to its target. If you need help with the math, feel free to ask any of the staff. We will gladly assist!
Once your application has been accepted, a moderator or admin will post your statistics for the character. This will include your HP, MP, STRENGTH, MAGIC, and ENDURANCE. These stats are extremely important, so make sure to keep them handy when playing in Tartarus.
For the convenience of players, there is also a LIST OF ENEMIES and their stats, which you will need in order to calculate damage.
THERE IS NO DODGE. ALL ATTACKS HIT!!
For a physical attack by the character:
[(LVL*ST) / (OPPONENT'S ENDURANCE)]= DAMAGE.
To calculate Weakness and Resistance (if applicable,) you would either multiply the ending damage by 2 (Weakness) or by .5 (Resistance). The new output is then your damage.
For a skill unleashed by the character's Persona:
[LVL*SPELL*MAGIC/STRENGTH (depending on if the spell is a physical spell or a magic one)] / OPPONENT'S ENDURANCE = DAMAGE.
Same as the physical attack, multiply by 2 or .5 if calculating weakness or resistance.
Replace SPELL with: 1.5 (light attack), 2.5 (moderate), 3.5 (heavy), 4.5 (massive)
4.) The party and shadows will take turns attacking. After the shadows have been defeated, the party flees, or the party is defeated; the characters will be given one round to get ready for the next mob.
5.) Sometimes, the shadows may catch the party by surprise. This will be listed before the battle begins in the 'Special notes' section. If it happens to be an ambush, the shadows will attack first in the very same post.
PROS AND CONS:
+ Playing this way earns you double experience. + Allows for strategy (choosing your attacks and healing.) + Option to heal in between battles.
- May take longer to finish a thread. - Requires all players to be active to keep flowing.

▲RUSH MODE▲ The moderator will be in charge of creating a 'log' per mob. In this log, it will state how much damage each character takes and how much the monster takes. The post will look something like this:
You will be tasked with acting out the battle in one post each, giving you the chance to also heal before the next battle begins. The second mob will start as soon as both characters have made a post. Rush Mode posts are to be a minimum of 100 words.
PROS AND CONS:
+ Fast paced. + Do not have to conduct any math.
- Cannot choose attacks. - Easier to become K.O.'d during battle. [/blockquote]

EXP AND ADDTIONAL NOTES [/b][/center] Experience points will be granted at the end of every successful excursion through Tartarus. You will be PM'd information about leveling up, which skill to level up, and stat allocations.
If your character gets K.O.'d during battle, they lose all their current EXP. [Example: If Seychelles is level 2 and has 29 EXP (one away from reaching 30, and thus, reaching level 3) and dies in battle, that EXP is reduced to 0.]
Devil's Touch
A mysterious phenomenon that appears to those who have not been revived before leaving Tartarus. It renders the afflicted weak as mysterious black spots appear on their body.
While not much is known about the mysterious disease, it seems to disappear within a month (strength returning with it.) A character that is afflicted with the Devil's Touch may not enter Tartarus or participate in Dark Hour for the following month.
